Lateralization Predictions for High-Frequency Binaural Stimuli
Revised Abstract The position-variable model [R.] is extended to describe the subjective lateral position of amplitude-modulated tones and bandpass noise, as well as other complex stimuli that are presented within spectral regions at which the binaural system appears to be unable to make use of cycle-by-cycle interaural temporal differences. Predictions of the model are based on the centroid of...
متن کاملLow-Frequency Envelope Sensitivity Produces Asymmetric Binaural Tuning Curves Running Title: Low-Frequency Binaural Envelope Sensitivity
Neurons in the auditory midbrain are sensitive to differences in the timing of sounds at the two ears—an important sound localization cue. We used broadband noise stimuli to investigate the interaural-delay sensitivity of low-frequency neurons in two midbrain nuclei: the inferior colliculus (IC) and the dorsal nucleus of the lateral lemniscus (DNLL). Noise delay functions showed asymmetries not...
متن کاملAutonomic nervous nonlinear interactions lead to frequency modulation between low- and high-frequency bands of the heart rate variability spectrum.
Cardiac sympathetic and parasympathetic neural activities have been found to interact with each other to efficiently regulate the heart rate and maintain homeostasis. Quantitative and noninvasive methods used to detect the presence of interactions have been lacking, however. This may be because interactions among autonomic nervous systems are nonlinear and nonstationary. The goal of this work w...
متن کاملIdentifying robust and sensitive frequency bands for interrogating neural oscillations
Recent years have seen an explosion of interest in using neural oscillations to characterize the mechanisms supporting cognition and emotion. Oftentimes, oscillatory activity is indexed by mean power density in predefined frequency bands. Some investigators use broad bands originally defined by prominent surface features of the spectrum. Others rely on narrower bands originally defined by spect...
متن کاملAnalysis of DAR IMPATT Diode for Some Frequency Bands
The analysis of DAR IMPATT diodes has been realized on basis of the precise drift-diffusion nonlinear model. The admittance characteristics of the DAR diode were analyzed in very wide frequency band from 30 up to 360 GHz. The energy characteristics have been optimized for the second high frequency band near the 220 GHz.
